“Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO 2013-14 A/W” got its underway on March 17, 2013 and “mastermind JAPAN” had the honor of opening the event. On this very first day, Conny Groenewegen from the Netherlands and ARIUNAA SURI from Mongolia had their first show in Tokyo, and each of them presented their new collection for F/W 2013-14. It has been 15 years since mastermind JAPAN had established. The designer, Masaaki Honda is planning to have a recess from this coming summer, and this was the last independent show before the break. The collection mainly presented 2013 S/S Men’s collection, as well as collaborated item with LOEWE, STUSSY, TASAKI, visvim and so on. Also the designer, Masaaki Honda and Rei Kawakubo created the imaginary brand, MASTERMIND BLACK COMME des GARCONS, and the collaborated items are about to arrive in stores. The venue was filled with invited fans from all over the country, and as for finale, the credits roll was projected on the huge screen. After the show, the designer Masaaki Honda said “It’s as if I’m in a huge dream. I want to live up to expectations and do my best to realize them in my own hand “.
Conny Groenewegen, which has its base in Amsterdam was welcomed to Tokyo as a “Mercedes Benz presents designer”. It’s collection focused on knit technology, and presented one-tone look with sculpturesque formed dresses and different materials from organic as well as stereoscopic approach.
The designer, Conny Groenewegen said “Having show in Tokyo means the first step towards the future”. ARIUNAA SURI set their theme as “the presence of in-between the East and the West”, and the show reflected Mongolian designer’s roots. On the 9th floor of the main show place, “Shibuya Hikarie”, the collaboration car called “smart for jeremy” by Mercedes-Benz was first publicly introduced in Japan. On 17th, the designer, Jeremy Scott visited the venue.The car is planned to be exhibited until March 23rd, the last day of the fashion week.
